What do you love, love, love doing?

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

My creatribution will continuously create a space for others to contribute, and share their passions with the world. I hope that my creatribution inspires others to bring freeFLOW to their cities so that imagine1day is being talked about everyday, all over the world.

That there is no barrier to contribution, that it's creative and outside the box,that we're impacting the lives of children through education, and that 100% of proceeds go directly to the cause.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

that everyone wants to positively contribute to this world - they just need an avenue from which to do it!

Why did you choose imagine1day?

imagine1day chose me! An amazing string of events in my life lead me to the place where I heard about imagine1day for the first time. I knew in that moment, that this was something I had to be a part of.

That i could teach 800 people a dance for a flash mob and that thousands more learned on line. I am still in awe of the incredible response of the Flash Mob with imagine1day. FREEDOM!!!

What is your creatribution?

I helped teach throngs of eager dancers the Flash-Mob dance that was performed by thousands in downtown Vancouver during the Olympics. I also have an exciting new Creatribution in the works; a Vancouver community cookbook that will unite local professional chefs and home foodies.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love to move, dance, stretch, and sweat. I love to feel my body and self contract and expand in space. I love to teach kids and inspire them to follow their unique passion and light. I also love to cook and feed those I love.

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I hope to connect with people I would never have connected with otherwise and in turn, connect others with people who share the same passion, creating joy and excitement that will then be sent hurtling towards Ethiopia.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

Every dollar raised/given to imagine1day goes DIRECTLY to supporting education in Ethiopia as the overhead costs are already covered!

Imagine1day is so unique in its approach to raising money and creating community both locally and in Ethiopia; raising not only the light of Ethiopian children, but also the light and passion of the community here in Vancouver or anywhere in North America.

I design some of the visual collateral for imagine1day.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love design and to try to influence change in some way or another using it as my tool.

I hope to learn about passion and how it in itself can be the power behind positive change. I love being a part of something bigger. To feel that you are on the ground yet influencing change at a much higher level than all of us is such a wonderful discovery.

I appreciate that imagine1day really emphasizes the involvement of the creatributor/donor. The transparency of the organization builds the reliability of imagine1days commitment and the people who work for imagine1day really are incredibly driven and committed to this project.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I never knew how involved the donor could be in the whole process and how working as a team could be as successful as it has proven to be for imagine1day.

Why did you choose imagine1day?

imagine1day really would allow me to explore what I am good at and is making a huge positive change in Africa, a place very dear to my heart.

What is your creatribution?

I have been volunteering my time at imagine1day and my contributions have ranged from small clerical tasks to writing grant proposals for the organization. I am also helping with the organizing of Yoga Aid Vancouver.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love to travel and camping is one of the things I love to do most even though I rarely get the opportunity. I also love the feeling I get by participating in an organization like imagine1day.

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I am learning how a non-profit organization functions and how to promote global change simply by diving in head first.

What about imagine1day is most important to you?

Bringing education to people who want it so badly. I believe that there is no higher calling than helping people help themselves.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I had no idea that facebook and Twitter were such useful media tools!

Why did you choose imagine1day?

I chose imagine1day because I like the way the organization retains no administrative percentage of donations. Also because I wanted to see what I could do to personally contribute to increasing global education.

What is your creatribution?

It's dish'ED, a night of food, wine and friends. We put on the inaugural dish'ED on April 17th, and it was great fun! Our crack team of volunteers and a very spirited group of guests made for a special evening.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love to cook. I love to learn about cooking. I love to share that interest with other people, both cooks and diners.

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

The team behind dish'ED is hoping to make it an ongoing event and to spread the idea to other cities. I loved the diverse group of people that came out to our first effort and the fact that they all now know about imagine1day. I learned that it's important to make sure early in the day that the sheet pans fit in the oven.

The immediacy of the connection between what we can do here in Canada, and what imagine1day does for kids in Ethiopia.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I suppose I knew this before, but imagine1day and dish'ED confirmed it for me very powerfully - combining people's passions with opportunity and with purpose creates great experiences. And it's a whole lot of fun.

Why did you choose imagine1day?

Its work is important, I collaborate with great people, and we have unique experiences. We built and opened a restaurant in 12 hours!

What is your creatribution?

SHIFTED is a showcase of 5 diverse speakers telling stories of challenge, failure and how they became the successful people they are today. SHIFTED exposes the opportunities created from difficult setbacks and events that result in a shift in someone's life. This event creates the opportunity for people to think about challenge in a new way and be inspired, while supporting imagine1day and educational efforts in Ethiopia. As a result of the learning and development shift that occurs in Vancouver, an educational shift will occur in Ethiopia. Together, we will make shift happen.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love anything that creates thrill and excitement in my life, that also allows me to learn something new. Whether it'd be travelling with friends to a new country, or testing out a new sport like white-water rafting, I am always looking for the next adventure to go on. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment after succeeding at something I have never done before and feel that I have experienced the world a little bit more.

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

Through this creatribution I will learn what it takes to coordinate an entire event, from start to finish and be able to be involved with every step along the way. In previous roles I have been able to be a part of a large organizing committee and focus on a very narrow responsibility. With SHIFTED, I will be able to oversee the entire process and get a different grasp on every different aspect of creating this kind of event.

I also will be able to utilize my marketing skills and apply my current learning to a hands-on project. Through SHIFTED I will also gain more relevant skills along the way and build my confidence in applying them in future projects.

What about imagine1day is most important to you?

imagine1day is different. It completely redefines the definition of a charity. Instead of giving X number of dollars or volunteer hours as your way of donating, imagine1day allows you to take on your own passions and give through a creatribution. You learn, grow and support a great organization, all while doing something that you love an gets your blood flowing. It is truly an two-way exchange of value and what I believe makes this charity so unique and special.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I got to dive in and learn the inner workings of an advertising agency-client relationship while working with Hangar 18, our fabulous branding sponsor. Being an avid marketing student, it was a great experience to be able to interact so closely with an advertising agency and seeing the fabulous results!

I chose imagine1day because of its unique way of charitable giving. imagine1day is so much beyond simply volunteering your time. Through this process I have been blessed by being surrounded with such an amazing team of people from whom which push me to strive for greatness, every single day.

I love to knit whilst at meetings, traveling, watching TV, listening to music etc. I am always beginning a new project!

I have never sold anything before, having always given things away. Beginning an Etsy site is new for me so this will be quite a journey of discovery.

I am an elementary teacher and believe that educating the youth of a nation as vital.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I did not know that despite being one of the ten poorest countries in the world, that Ethiopia is stable politically.

I listen to North by Northwest pod casts whilst walking my dog and heard an interview.

What is your creatribution?

My very small creatribution involved setting up and customizing the blog site for imagine1day.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love doing a ton of things, but I am learning to love only the things that are eternal. So I am going to go with I like to do a lot of things. Mostly the same as everyone else, travelling, playing legos with my son and doing make overs with my daughters. I really enjoy playing scrabble on my iPad with my wife, playing basketball at the church and doing anything in Hawaii.

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I am not expecting to achieve anything, but I am happy that something as small as blog customization can be used by an organization like imagine1day.

What about imagine1day is most important to you? What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I don't think there is one aspect or one new thing that I didn't know. I don't think that is the point though. We all have some type of gifting or able to fill a need some how, yet too many of us don't act. We tend to get lazy or make excuses for not doing anything. Most of the time, we are simply afraid of rejection. If we do something, we are afraid someone will not like it. We are afraid it will offend somebody. I would encourage people to do things that might involve failure. I had the capability to help imagine1day by providing a free customized blog. Some people may not like the look. Some people may say it was easy for me to do and doesn't mean much. But I think if people are willing to do something, even small things, great things can happen.

Why did you choose imagine1day?

I think it was more that imagine1day choose me. There was a need and I was able to solve that need. I am happy that I can be a part (even though my part is tiny) of something that is a cool, innovative and inspiring as imagine1day.

I choreographed and filmed an instructional video for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic flash mob.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love to dance in the kitchen, friends' kitchens, the living room, friends' living rooms and in my classroom while singing with my students!

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

As I am writing this post flash mob; I never knew to trust my creativity and believe that I could be part of something so mind-blowingly awesome! This is my second flash mob and a third is in the works for another very worthy cause. In Huntsville, ON this June, we will use the G8 summit as a platform to raise awareness about global water issues.

Imagine1day's mission resonates with me as a primary teacher. Their commitment to quality education for every child in Ethiopia is inspiring and crucial for the future of our world. We need to teach children about the power they possess and encourage them to use it to positively affect their community and beyond.

I may have suspected, but now I KNOW it is true that it can be simple and fun to make a difference!

It chose me! My incredibly motivating brother in-law Adam knew to trust me with this project.

What is your creatribution?

My creatribution is Dish'Ed. We are transforming an ordinary space into a gourmet restaurant for one night and creating an evening of beautiful food & wine for people to experience.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love love love making food for people and having them enjoy it. I have always loved cooking - I think it goes back to the time I learned to make strawberry jam with my Grandma at age 5. I will be at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris in August of this year - the fulfillment of a lifelong culinary dream!

What do you hope to learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I hope to learn lots more about cooking through this creatribution, as I am collaborating with some incredible people that share my passion for food.

I think the commitment that imagine1day has to a clear vision and goals is incredibly important. It makes such a difference for people in contributing to something when they know exactly what they are giving to.

I learned that behind every school built by imagine1day are hundreds of inspiring stories, each belonging to a parent, teacher, child, volunteer, community leader or creatributor who is changing the lives of many through their commitment to education.

The fact that that imagine1day's approach develops local community leaders and empowers entire villages to create educational, water and food security improvements that are self-sustaining in the long run.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I learned that even in the harshest conditions, the love and commitment of teachers, parents and community leaders for their children can sustain a school and hope for the future- even if it is as simple as a class taking place under a tree, or a shack built of sticks and stones. This spirit of love and hope for the next generation is so incredibly inspiring to me.

Their commitment to making education available for all Ethiopian children by 2020. It is a huge and challenging goal (a BHAG, as my girlfriend would say) and that desire, to reach for what many think impossible, is what makes imagine1day so great.

I still have no idea who came up with the concept to combine lemons and athletic wear. But I'm grateful.

I am designing a book that will be used to communicate imagine1day's story, while inspiring people to get involved.

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I was able to practice my ability to multitask, collaborate with others and make a contribution to something that means something in a personal way.

imagine1day is most important to me because it stands for possibility & change. It is proof that when like minded people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets come together, anything is imagine-able truly is possible ;)

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I am simply reminded that every one of us has something to offer the world, and everything to gain from that contribution.

Why did you choose imagine1day?

I was drawn to the people involved with imagine1day as well as the impact I witnessed once I learned more about what imagine1day does. I was drawn to the people who were equally passionate, creative and getting involved as a community for a global initiative. It's about people having fun and making a difference while they do it.

I love playing the piano. I love being busy. I love being in Vancouver.

What is your creatribution?

I worked for imagine1day for 4 weeks as an intern. I did many administrative tasks such as researching companies and organizing pictures. Also I organized hundreds of waivers for the flash mob called 'dancing in the street'. And after I go back to Korea, I'll try to raise awareness for imagine1day in Korea. I hope that many people in Korea will know about imagine1day . Then, they can be creatributors!

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I learned how to work with others, do administrative works, and be professional.

Education is human right. imagine1day is supporting future leaders in Ethiopia.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I knew that people can really enjoy their work and make money at the same time. Sapna and Jered are always super busy, but they really enjoy their work!

Why did you choose imagine1day?

I chose imagine1day, because my future goal is to work for UNESCO. So I needed practical experience. I'm really interested in science education for sustainable development, because that education can not only protect the environment but also fight off poverty.

My creatribution will be to create a work of art which allows viewers to witness the creative process, through written and video blogs. The end result will be an original painting which will be printed in a limited edition run and a portion of those proceeds will be donated to imagine1day.

The most important thing to me is that imagine1day is creating sustainable change, not just "helping" and then walking away. They are working with communities in such a way that allows them to be independant of the charity while learning, growing and gaining from their presence.

That although Ethiopia is one of the poorest nations, they are politically stable and the government is in full support of assisting with imagine1day's goals.

My creatribution^TM is the conception and organization of a fundraising event that features local performance groups. The event is called OneNight for 1Day and is an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate performance arts, and become educated about imagine1day and the work they do in Ethiopia.

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I am learning how to budget and plan an event, discovering how well intentioned most people are while achieving a sense of satisfaction as I work with people who are like-minded in their passion for children's education and creativity.

I love the concept of community and imagine1day's philosophy that contributions are not limited to monetary donations, but include time, energy, connections, creativity and participation.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

When you're passionate about creating change, others become inspired by your cause and form a support network to help reach your goal. Community is a powerful and beautiful force, one that is so much larger then our personal contacts; we can affect the lives of people we will never meet, in ways we will never fully know.

Why did you choose imagine1day?

Because they're awesome! More specifically because imagine1day puts 100% of proceeds from creatributions^TM towards projects in Ethiopia, they encourage creativity and community, and they work towards attainable goals that are beneficial to the community as a whole.

Organizing events

What is your creatribution?

Myself and my Event Marketing class at Capilano University were given the opportunity to host an event for Mac's Convenience store and Seattle's Best Coffee. For the event we needed to choose a charity that we would raise money for both through donation as well as a portion of the drip coffee sales went to imagine1day.

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I learned how to work with a large team and how to delegate tasks in order to achieve an optimal outcome.

The fact that they are working to help people less fortunate and that they promote education.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I learned that they have clear and creative flyers that explain their goals in a few simple sentences.

What do you love, love, love doing?

I love, love, love trying to make the world better, happier, more peaceful, and then sometimes being able to step back and see small successes in those attempts.

What is your creatribution?

My creatribution is a cross-Canada cycling from Vancouver to Halifax to raise awareness, and $25,000 for imagine1day. This is a chance for me to contribute to a cause which I feel is crucially important, but also a chance for me to prove my own potential to myself which I love doing.

What about imagine1day is most important to you?

The objective of imagine1day, that being education in the developing world is exactly the path I want to take with my life. I feel that education is such a vital tool to create change on so many levels. Whether it is formal or informal education, it can eliminate poverty, improve life skills, reduce ignorance and therefore discrimination, spread knowledge on sustainable living, and create acceptance and patience. Focusing on developing countries is important because these often the populations that receive little to no education.

What is something you have learned that you NEVER knew before imagine1day?

I learned that if you find something that you truly want to do, you're passionate about it, and you share it with other people, those people will support you and want to help you get there because that passion becomes contagious. SO ALWAYS SHARE YOUR PASSION!!!

Why did you choose imagine1day?

There are certainly other organizations that focus on education, but I chose imagine1day because of the unique and sustainable structure it holds. It does not simply give a village a school house, they give everything that is needed to ensure the school will be used, and continue to be used. I also appreciate that when I first approached imagine1day saying, “what can I do to help?” I was not actually told what to do. Instead I was asked, "what would you like to do to help?"

What do you love, love, love doing?

Reaching our community and involving them in our attempts to give back while showcasing their individual talents.

What is your creatribution?

We have contacted three local artists who will be contributing graphics which we will print on lululemon t-shirts and sell with the profits going to charity. In addition, one of the artists will be designing a live art piece in front of our store window, and another will be donating a surf board with the designers artwork, both of which will be up for silent auction. Live music from a local Dj will be provided to add to the atmosphere for our 'art gallery' feel of the store. Our goal is to raise $1000 for classroom supplies and we are positive that it will be reached.

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I have learned that even in these tough times, people are still willing to help those in need using every resource available to them including their talents. I hope to expose these local artists to the community while highlighting imagine1day's mission.

What is most important is the direct affect donors have on children in Ethiopia. Education is a gift and a right; being a part of creating the environment for learning, is reward enough.

Everyone has the opportunity to be involved no matter what their personal resources are.

Everyone has the right to a proper education, I'm glad to find a program dedicated to making this a reality and connecting ordinary people to this great cause. Education in Ethiopia is a goal people get excited about! Many of my friends have contributed their unique talents to this event, whether it be graphic design or band bookings. A common goal and a little creativity can go a long way.

I love that imagine1day focuses on education. Education means a future generation of leaders who understand the issues of their country and can work from the inside out to change things. It is the key to sustainable change.

I love helping people and seeing the result of a small effort that changes lives.

What is your creatribution?

I made a Christmas update for my family. In the update I told them about imagine1day and I asked that whatever money they would spend on me for Christmas gifts, to instead put that amount towards a project for imagine1day. If they weren’t planning on getting me a gift, I asked for them to go onto the website and educate themselves about the organization and talk about it in their communities.

What did you learn, discover, or achieve through your creatribution?

I learned that there is more to life than just doing what everyone else is doing, meaning, getting caught up in the things that don’t really matter in the long run. It was a real joy to know that something so small can make a difference to people that I don’t even know.

This is an organization that is not creating a band-aid solution to poverty and hunger but they are creating the tools for people to become sustainable and create a better way of life. This isn't temporary it is permanent.

What is something you have learned that you never knew before imagine1day?

That before imagine1day schools and their committed teachers, classes were maybe 20-30 students now they are 50-60. Building schools and educating parents about the necessity and possibilities when a child has an education results in kids going to school.
