Imagine you are able to recreate a day in the life of a child in Ethiopia for your students to better understand and visualize what school and life are like for their global classmates. These interactive lesson plans and activities have been created as curriculum based experiences to allow you to do just that - illustrate the many similarities and differences that exist between students of such varying cultures. Engage your students in a life experience of an Ethiopian child, and in doing so, raise awareness and funding to provide quality education in Ethiopia.

Water Walk documents

Many children in Ethiopia do not have the opportunity to go to school because the need to provide water for their families outweighs the luxury to attend school. Many children, mostly girls, can spend up to six hours a day walking to collect water. Create an experience for your students to walk a mile in the shoes of an Ethiopian child by having a school-wide Walk 4 Water. (Download the Documents)

i1day Tree of Hope Lesson

Children and families in Ethiopia are so committed to education for their children that they are willing to endure scorching heat and dry winds to sit in makeshift outdoor schools called dass schools. Some of these schools simply exist under a tree. Have your students experience what education is like for a child in Ethiopia by creating a Tree of Hope in your classroom and also dream of what's possible by creating 'imagine…' leaves to hang from the branches.
