Although access to schools in these 11 communities is not an issue, the existing facilities lack the resources and training necessary to ensure a quality education for the students that are enrolled. Furthermore, improvements to the standard of education and enhancements in the level of community participation will encourage parents who have not yet enrolled their children in school, to do so. In December 2007 imagine1day provided these 11 schools with new desks, tables, chairs and shelving units. imagine1day will continue to work with these 11 schools throughout 2008, 2009 and 2010. Planned activities include formation of school clubs, provision of sports materials and science kits, creation of classroom reading corners, development of a creative writing curriculum, and various types of teacher training.
