Adi-Ajero Grade 1-4 Primary School

A Story from Adi-Ajero
From Monday to Friday in Adi-Ajero, over 100 grade one and two students used to crowd into a 3 meter by 3 meter shelter, learning their lessons in four hour shifts. They perched on wooden logs or stones, piled into makeshift seats. There were no desks and no toilets. There was no playground and limited water ran from a hand dug well that was a 10 minute walk away.
The community of Adi-Ajero changed that. 1,500 villagers worked in shifts for almost two months to carve the necessary road into their mountain, using little more than simple shovels and pick axes to clear the way for materials needed to construct a school. Today Adi-Ajero has a concrete and stone school with desks, chalkboards, toilets, clean water…and a roof
