Gerambero Grade 1-4 Primary School

Parents began constructing a new school for their children and didn’t have the means to finish. Let’s make this a community effort and finish what this committed group has started.
A Story from Gerambero
In the remote, rural village of Gerambero is a small plot of land, surrounded by the beginnings of stone walls just a few feet high. This is where parents tried to construct a school to replace the makeshift one they had built out of branches and dried mud for their children in 2007. Without resources or engineering expertise, they weren’t able to complete it. With materials, support and training from imagine1day, the community of Gerambero mobilized to help complete construction of a new school, and are now gaining skills to sustain the school and the education of their children for years to come.
Goals
- Build and furnish a Grade 1-4, four classroom school for up to 400 students to replace Gerambero’s makeshift, tree shelter school.
- Equip the school with reading, sports, creative writing and other programs.
- Provide Active Learning, Life Skills and Science teacher training.
- Train a local Parent Teacher Association to lead the school into the future.
- Support income generation activities to sustain the school.
- Provide latrines to ensure privacy and hygiene for young children.
