Oshana Junior Primary School

355 bags of cement, 2,300 breeze blocks, 2 tonnes of aggregate, and 10 loads of sand laid the foundation for the education of 65 children.

A Story from Oshana

When the third and last team of volunteers arrived, they plastered the interior and exterior of the building, laid concrete flooring and painted colorful murals to decorate the walls. When the second group of volunteers arrived, they finished the brickwork, installed doors and windows, and raised the roof. When the third and last team of volunteers arrive, they plastered the inside and outside the building, laided concrete flooring and paint colorful murals to decorate the walls.

By December 2007, 65 students and an entire community celebrated the completion of a new school that replaced stick and tin sheet sheds and open-air classes.

Goals

  • Fund the material costs of a two-classroom, grade 1-3 school in Oshana, northern Namibia built in partnership with Raleigh International and under the guidance of the Namibia Ministry of Education and the Namibia Ministry of Works
