Seffo Maialekti Grade 1-4 Primary School

A Story from Seffo Maialekti
Aster, a mother of two, desperately wanted her daughters to continue their education. But in Seffo Maialekti, receiving an education past the second grade meant walking to a school two hours away. Like the other parents, she worried for her children’s health and safety on the long journey. The conditions left them susceptible to sun stroke, fatigue or injury, had they slipped at the river's crossing. To ease her fears, she walked an hour with them, each way, herself.
With a grade 1-4 school now complete and situated in the heart of Seffo Maialekti, children have safe access to education and a better future. That’s why the entire community worked together to support school construction. When the school opened in 2008, Seffo’s Maialekti’s sons and daughters were in attendance; many for the first time.
