Friday, July 1, 2011WITH A NEW SCHOOL COMES NEW POSSIBILITIES
140 km shy of the Danakil Depression (the lowest dry point below sea-level and the hottest place on earth) is the small community of Tsabat. In 1977, the community partnered with a local NGO (non-governmental organization) to build a small Grade 1-4 school. Over the next 25 years, the school flourished and the community struggled to support their children making the two hour trek to the closest Grade 5-8 school in Birki, the next town over.
